WFR is more self directed roleplaying writing, or at least as I was conceiving it. Basically the author/player is handing it back to the GM when they decide they want outside/GM input in the story. It’s a way of writing where the player has all the control they want within the parameters of the world and setting, but can always reach out for things unforeseen or unknown or alternative to help reset or whatever is required at the moment. So it could be back and forth every paragraph (though I see logistical issues arising with that, since we can’t even arrange a couple of hours for a live game), or it could be pages and pages of writing and then throwing it back to the GM for a small section, before continuing on. Or it could be one day a back and forth, the next day pages and pages. I think WFR stands for Writing, Free-Roleplay.

@Hexlor Yes, agreed. I’m going to need some time with the character to get a feel for that, I think. Same as above, though I think I have some ideas there. He has a very strong sense of duty, and duty to Amerel might be the main reason. Lurking deeper, the outbursts would seem to indicate to me that somewhere down there, so deep down that I don’t think you could find it with floodlights and rappelling gear, Le Maçon perhaps did have feelings for his family. But we’ll need to see. He still looks pretty human (for a Venge), I think James and I brainstormed about this somewhere. I’m meh about keeping the bio as a live doc, might just be laziness on my part. It was meant to be a summary of the intro chapters that filled in some additional stuff that I couldn’t really get in there, like looking like Leonardo Da Vinci. Incidentally, I do like the questions about his personality and potential plot inconsistencies. I hope it does come through that I have a pretty developed idea of him in my head, but don’t have the skills to write an entire psych profile or the like - I find it helpful to talk about what he’d do and why, which is where most of these questions go. So feel free to heap it on.

@Hexlor said: Do the Venge not have the ability to step outside the veil and re-enter somewhere within the forest? If they do have this ability then you will need to provide a reason why Le Mason is not using, or cannot use this ability in tracking his way to the SQ’s. In addition to @falconius 's answer: Being Venge didn’t come with an instruction manual. I’ve definitely imagined him sticking to human routine as he falls more into this new existence. Maybe there are idiosyncracies he’ll always keep. It’s entirely possible nobody’s told him he can do it yet, and he hasn’t had the instinct to try. Even if he’s aware of the possibility, my impression of the Gauntlet is that it’s a dangerous place, I’m not sure that he’d necessarily feel it prudent to risk it. I’m not sure how easy or hard it is to navigate in the Gauntlet, either. Would he get lost? Where might he come out? Another reason to go the simple, long way. Le Maçon is much more of the slow and steady kind of personality. Plodding forward towards a goal in a way that makes it look inconceivable that he wouldn’t get there, no matter whatever is in between. Walking there just kind of suits him for me. @Hexlor said: …or is the hammer actually Venge itself: ‘Coalescers’. Like that example @falconius gave of the souls coalescing into a physical item While I don’t think we’ve canonically decided what the hammer is, that was my inspiration. Sometimes I just write things and hope that it can work inside the canon. (Like Fassogen’s description in the L&O story.) @Falconius said: what year is this set? 9XX? I was looking through the thread, and I don’t think I answered this, but might have missed it. My personal idea was that it should be within a year or two of the Spider Queens escaping the Magikar, which I think makes it ~10-15 years after Amerel was razed?

I’d recommend reading the Intro stories (001-003) before reading the bio - I think the stories illustrate Le Maçon far better than the bio, and that the bio is better for reference. Oh, and I play very fast and loose with canon here, and am happy to iterate to get things better in line, if needed.
